2009 Venture Outdoors Festival Wrap-up
May 18, 2009 by admin
Thank you to everyone who came to the Venture Outdoors Festival. Point State Park made a great setting for thousands to enjoy kayaking, biking, climbing, yoga and fishing. Even a little rain in the afternoon couldn’t tarnish the mood; exhibitors, volunteers and festival goers enjoyed an entire day of festivities.

Some of the highlights this year included an obstacle course by Grass Roots Racing, an owl named Martha Stewart with the Animal Rescue League Wildlife Center and boat tours of RiverQuest’s green boat The Explorer.
Venture Outdoors would like to especially thank our great volunteers for making this event possible!

The Pittsburgh House Rabbit Club volunteers — and the shelter bunnies — had a GREAT time at the festival!
We were thrilled to have the opportunity to promote rabbits as house pets (yes, they really DO use the litterbox) and to educate people about the dangers of domestic rabbits being set free outdoors.
We are currently recruiting volunteers to help trap pet rabbits abandoned in streets, parking lots, fields, cemetaries, suburban backyards, and generally anywhere OTHER than safely indoors. Free training will be offered on Wednesday,, June 10, at Animal Friends.
For details about this fun and unusual way to help animals, email us at info@pittsburghhouserabbit.org
Thanks for a great event! We will definitely be back next year.
