Allegheny River closed this Weekend

The Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta is taking place this weekend. This 3-day FREE event features spectacular air, land and water entertainment! On Sunday, July 5th, head down to Kayak Pittsburgh Downtown for free 15-minute kayaking lessons and participate in Sunday’s Regatta Green Extreme – bass tournament, national dragon boat championships, free kayaking and more.
During the Festival, the Allegheny River will be closed to recreational boat traffic. Kayak Pittsburgh Downtown is unable to rent kayaks on Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th. Water and merchandise will still be available.
Below is river closure information:
Beginning at the 7th St. Bridge to the Heinz Field Quay on the Allegheny River on the following dates:
July 3: Noon – 9 p.m.
July 4: 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.
July 5: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Mooring of boats is prohibited on both sides of the Allegheny River at all times, within the river closures (7th St. Bridge to the Heinz Field Quay).
For July 4 fireworks, the closure will be moved to the Fort Duquesne Bridge on the Allegheny River and Fort Pitt Bridge on the Monongahela River extended to the West End Bridge.




What a bunch of bull crap. Close the rivers for three days. I have a right to pass through the Allegheny. To close the river for 9-10 hours at a time is bull crap, let people pass through at some point. I wonder what smart ass siting behind a desk decided to screw the boaters of Allegheny the second largest inland port in the country. Thanks JERK OFF
