Bike Tour donates $500 to help finish the Great Allegheny Passage

July 9, 2009 by admin

Venture Outdoors led another group of cyclists from Washington, DC to Pittsburgh on June 13-20. The youngest rider was an energetic 11 year old from Texas riding the trail for the first time with his grandfather. He had a blast along with the other 14 riders.

In the end the riders, staff, and Venture Outdoors combined efforts to donate $500 to the Allegheny Trail Alliance. The ATA is the all volunteer community that has created this traffic free trail from Cumberland to Pittsburgh. Nearing completion, the ATA will need to find sustainable funding sources to maintain the trail as over half a million people a year continue to use the trail.

To make a difference and help the volunteers at the ATA, stop by www.atatrail.org and make a donation.

Hey Riders! Thanks so much! This will be put to good use. I hope you inspire other groups to do the same.
