Great Day for a Festival!

It started out rainy, but Saturday afternoon turned out to be a great day for our third Family Outdoors Festival. Allegheny Commons was a perfect setting for the days activities. Both young and old enjoyed kayaking for the first time on the shallow waters of Lake Elizabeth and many people took advantage of the park’s numerous paths on bike rides. There were several friendly animals wandering around to say hi, including the Pittsburgh Zoo polar bear and Aquarium shark.
Festival tents were filled with exhibits on art, music, wildlife. Our partner REI was also there with a special gift for Venture Outdoors- a check for 10,000 to continue the Family and Community Programs! Thanks REI, we’ll put it to good use!
