Northern Expansion is an exciting addition!

“My wife and I are thrilled with VO’s new endeavor in the Great North!”
Response (like the one above) to Venture Outdoors expanding North to Beaver, Butler and Lawrence Counties has been both enthusiastic and encouraging. Via email, phone or meet and greet opportunities, it’s clear that VO North is a welcome addition to the outdoor recreation opportunities in these three counties.

More feelings of excitement:
“I just saw my e-mail about the new expansion and I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am! I have always visited the VO website and wanted to do so much but living far from most of the activities made it hard. I have 2 girls and a part time job and the love of outdoor activities with no other adults to go with. My husband doesn’t always have time to do what I want and I would love to meet others in this area (not far away in Pittsburgh) that I could do things with. Going alone is not always the safest thing. ”
“This is a wonderful expansion. Congratulations!”
“We’re so glad to hear that you are finally in Butler County. We had belonged to Venture Outdoors awhile back, but didn’t re-new our membership since most of the activities were in Allegheny county.”
“This sounds great. I am glad for more opportunities close to home!”
During last week’s Toast to Tourism event hosted by the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau, attended by approximately 120 outdoor enthusiasts, VO North made new friends and renewed old friendships as well. A sun-kissed, low humidity evening set a beautiful scene at Moraine State Park. Venture Outdoors offered an introduction to geocaching and guests also took part in kayaking, disc golf, biking and pontoon boat rides.
The evening was not only a celebration of the great outdoors, but also a celebration of a great honor: the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management. The park system of PA was awarded the gold medal (which was on display at this event) by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association. Pennsylvania will carry the “Best in Nation” title until the next medal is awarded in 2011.
This prestigious award honors the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for its skill in planning for and managing the diverse state park system, and also for its innovative approaches that have drawn people into state parks in new ways, connecting them with nature through outdoor recreation. That sounds like a gold-medal-worthy mission to us!
