About Us

Venture Outdoors is a non-profit organization that places outdoor amenities and the needs of our region at the core of our existence, mission and service to the community. Venture Outdoors is supported by membership dues and program fees, foundation and government grants, private donations, and sponsorship.

Mission
Venture Outdoors seeks to transform the Pittsburgh region into a place where the outdoors is an integral part of our culture, identity and lifestyle. Our mission components include the following:

• Promote the region’s outdoor assets to residents and visitors
• Train and experientially educate people in safe use of outdoor resources
• Promote wellness through exercise
• Educate participants in building a conservation ethic and environmentally-sensitive mindset
• Provide outdoor experiential learning opportunities to under-served youth and diverse populations.
• Build a sense of community and collaboration with other outdoor-related non-profit organizations
• Augment economic development by promoting the region as a wonderful place to live, work and play
