Save the Date for Warren Miller: Round 2

The day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year. On Friday, November 27, skip the lines at the mall and join Venture Outdoors for another round of Warren Miller, this year at the Carnegie Music Hall in Carnegie, PA. For 60 years Warren Miller has been filming the finest skiers and snowboarders on the biggest mountains in the world. And this year’s film, Dynasty, is packed full of awe-inspiring footage. You’ll travel to China, Norway, Lake Tahoe, Colorado and Crystal Mountain all from the comfort of your seat!
We’ll have two showings matinee and evening, so if you can’t resist waking up early for door buster savings the matinee showing will be the perfect end to a day’s worth of activities. More details and ticket information coming soon at ventureoutdoors.org, but for now just save the date.

Warren Miller Success!

The Warren Miller film festival on Saturday, January 10 was a success! Even mother nature stepped aside to allow folks an easy drive to the theater. Almost 400 people attended the three events. There were many kids and families at the matinee and a mob of them in the lobby after the movie seeking an autograph from professional skier Chris Anthony.

Telepalooza 2009

The Appalachian Telemark Association is proud to present Telepalooza 2009 Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1. Telepalooza features ski clinics, professional ski instruction, equipment demos and the 7th annual Jack Zoppetti G.S. Telemark Race, the longest up hill/down hill fun race in the Mid Atlantic Region. Warren Miller's Children of Winter- Coming to PGH

It’s all part of Warren Miller’s Children of Winter, the world’s largest action sports film, which is set to music by Radiohead, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Beck and others. Shown in crystal-clear high definition, the film tour crisscrosses the nation and nine countries worldwide. Join Venture Outdoors as we bring the excitement to Pittsburgh for the first time Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Carnegie Library in Homestead.
You’ll have a chance to bring the whole gang to the family friendly matinee at midday, make a night out with dinner and beer tasting, or simply grab the feature film with both hands and hang on. A special appearance at dinner by Chris Anthony, one of the athletes in Children of Winter, makes this event a don’t miss opportunity!

Matinee Showing: 1:30 PM – Tickets: $6
Doors open at 1:00 PM. This showing is family friendly, free for all Big Brothers and Big Sisters and includes an inspirational talk after the film with Chris Anthony. All tickets are general admission.

Doors open at 7:15 PM. The evening showing includes 2 films: Warren Miller’s Children of Winter, and Behind the Film, a unique film about the making of Children of Winter. All tickets are general admission.
